Cycling Trips

When we drive to places, we take main roads because we want to get from A to B as fast as possible. This means we miss out on seeing the heart of the places we drive past.

That’s why, in 2019, I decided to discover my local area – the Charente and Dordogne – from the saddle of my bike.

Here are the light-hearted blog posts about my trips in 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Note that the Flow Vélo trips are ongoing.

1. Doorstep Cycling – Following the River Charente upstream from Cognac

In August 2019 my partner and I decided to cycle along our local waterway, the River Charente, and discover its source. I coupled this ‘doorstep holiday’ – a trip that starts right from your doorstep – with a blog sprint, and blogged about our trip every day for seven days. Here are the links to the posts:

2. APT – Cycling around the Dronne river (Dordogne)

APT is the abbreviation of Abandoned Parent Training.

In June and July 2020 my partner and I took part in two sessions of Abandoned Parent Training. These sessions took place along the River Dronne in the Dordogne, France, and I wrote a series of 6 light-hearted blog posts about them.

3. La Flow Vélo – Following the Flow Vélo cycle route (Charente and Dordogne)

In 2017 the cycling route V92, which runs from Aix island to Thiviers, was baptised La Flow Vélo and local people began talking about it. I decided to find out what it was all about, and in spring 2022 I managed to persuade my husband to accompany me on day trips to discover it little by little.
